Glass Dharma Review & Giveaway

Okay, this review will be the last one for a little while. We'll continue to write when we can, but like we said before, because of other work and school, it'll take us a while. Thanks for being patient with us, though!
So, first things first. Yes, this is a sponsored post. Meaning, I received the product mentioned below for free in exchange for a review. The opinions expressed below are 100% honest and completely mine. I am under no obligation to write a positive review and I would never accept anything that requires that I do. Now, let's get started!

Today's review is on Glass Dharma straws. I contacted them about doing a review and they accepted. I was sent the following straws for review.
~Simple Elegance- Smoothie (12mm x 9")
~Red Decorative Dots- Ice Tea (9.5mm x 9")
~Blue Decorative Dots- Sipper (7mm x 6.25")
~Beautiful Bend- Ice Tea (9.5mm x 9")
But, before I get started on the review, a little about the company.
GlassDharma was founded by David Leonhardt in 2007 and their mission is to raise awareness worldwide about single use plastic straws and how they are damaging to our environment. You can read more about GlassDharma itself here.
So, how are they damaging, you might ask. Well, there's plastic everywhere in this world. Plastic cups, plastic straws, plastic bottles, etc. There's a massive amount of it being dumped into the landfills and oceans and it's damaging our environment. Even the plastics that are recycled are typically only down-cycled a few times before ending up in the landfills and oceans, so it's a big problem. You can read more about that here.
Finally, how do they work, you may wonder. They are made of borosilicate tubing (the strongest glass commercially available) and are strengthened according to Corning, Inc. specifications. They don't leach toxins into your drinks, can be used with hot or cold drinks, and are microwave & dishwasher safe. Also, there's a lifetime guarantee against breakage. You can read more about that here.

Now, the review.
I'll start with the "Beautiful Bend" straw.
The straw was smooth and didn't feel too big in my mouth. No rough edges or anything, of course. I appreciated the bend for wider mouthed bottles/cups and shorter ones too, but for bottles like the one in the picture, the bend wasn't as useful and the "Simple Elegance" one was just as helpful. I used it with lemonade and it clogs up rather easily because of the pulp, so a wider straw probably would've been better. For all the other drinks I used it with, it's fine though. Overall, it was easy to use, but for it to perform its best, you should probably use it with a wider mouthed bottle/cup and use it with a drink without much pulp or anything like that. Also, it's easy to clean. Visually, it looks like it's clean after just rinsing it, but to be sure, I would use the cleaning brush. (*The cleaning brush is NOT included. It's a separate purchase found under the accessories tab, unless you are buying a straw set.*) Overall, I liked it. Depending on what kind of cups/glasses/bottles you have, I'd recommend either this one or the "Simple Elegance" straw. So, if you have wide mouthed glasses, I'd recommend these and if you have narrower mouthed glasses, I'd recommend the "Simple Elegance" straws.

Next, the Blue Decorative Dots Sipper.
It has a cute design and would really help identify which drink is yours. I used it with apple cider in this particular picture above and this is what I thought. Due to the small diameter, it slows down the amount of liquid you can take in, so sippers may be better for you if you want to limit how quickly you drink something or maybe even if you are dieting. It's definitely not something to use with drinks with chunks, pulp, or anything that could clog it up. It's best for juices and water in a short cup or mug. It seems good for little kids as well. Also, like the "Beautiful Bend" straw, it was easy to clean with the cleaning brush. Overall, it wasn't bad, but personally, I would just get a bigger straw, so that you can use it for a larger variety of drinks.

Now, the Red Decorative Dots straw.
I used it with lemonade in the case above and like the previous straws, it was easy to use. It works well with this type of cup (wide mouthed, pretty tall), as well. There wasn't as much pulp this time, so it didn't clog and pretty much everything else is the same to the "Beautiful Bend" as they were both the same size/diameter.

Finally, the "Simple Elegance" straw.
This one was the widest straw out of all of them. It's supposed to be for smoothies, but it's not exactly the season for smoothies where I am, so I used it with lemonade. Since it was so wide, I think that it probably would work for smoothies without getting clogged too badly. Personally, the feel of it in my mouth was a bit uncomfortable. It felt a bit too big in my mouth, but other than that, it was easy to use, easy to clean, and durable like the other ones were, so I would recommend it.

Okay, well, that was my review. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope that it was helpful. Thank you for reading!
